Something Sweet

SOMETHING SWEET

Two hundred years ago the average American consumed two pounds of sugar in an entire year. Today the average American consumes nearly one hundred and fifty pounds of sugar in one year. How did this happen? Clearly we love our sugary treats, but is it possible that we would appreciate them more if we didn’t have so much sugar in our everyday lives? This feature length documentary will explore the role of added sugar and sweeteners in American culture and diet as it follows Gwydhar Gebien as she tries to go for nine months without eating any foods with added sugar in them to find out if life is sweeter without it.
